An island named after the Latin word "Silva" which can be translated as „the forest”. This is not surprising given that Silba is one of the most desirable islands in Croatia.
Silba is known as the "pedestrian" island. The reason is that you are not allowed to use a car on the island. In addition to Silba there are some of the most famous Croatian beaches. If these reasons are not enough for summer vacation on this island, you should know that there are a total of 2570 sunny hours a year. With the turquoise sea, the hospitality of locals, beautiful beaches and coves, Silba is a destination where you can easily find your place under the sun.
You can reach the beaches on the island of Silba on foot, and you can rent a taxi boat to get the most distant ones. The main town beach Šotorišće is located on the south side of the island. The sandy bottom of this beach gives the sea a beautiful turquoise color. On this side of the island, other beaches are very small and isolated. The nearest to the town center of Silba is the beach Ugljanica. For those who want privacy, there is also a nudist beach of Mavrovo. Apart from these beaches, Silba has many coves where you can also enjoy the sea.
You can reach the island of Silba from two directions, from Zadar and Mali Lošinj. From the direction of Zadar there is a ferry line that runs three times a day during the summer months (you can find the schedule on the official website of Jadrolinija). There is also an airport in Zadar, which is a great advantage for passengers coming from far away areas.
